We were looking for cat furniture that belonged in a home we cared about. Something that didn't need to be pushed into a corner, draped with a throw blanket, or apologized for when guests arrived. Something that looked like a deliberate design choice — not a concession to a cat's existence.

What we found was the same product in a hundred different listings: carpet-wrapped posts in colors nobody chose, cheap particleboard hiding under plush that pills after a month, bright platforms that clash with everything around them. Products built to a price point, not to a standard.

We decided to build something different.

The category had accepted a trade-off that didn't need to exist. Cats need to climb, scratch, perch, and hide — those are real behavioral needs, not optional features. But nothing about satisfying those needs requires carpet, garish colors, or designs that look worse after the first week.

Natural wood. Solid sisal. Architectural forms. Materials that age well, finishes that photograph cleanly, designs that a design-conscious buyer would choose for their space — not merely tolerate for their cat.

We named the brand Koven. Named every product. Built a catalog where every piece had to earn its place in a well-designed home before it earned a place in our collection. That standard hasn't changed.
